Roof cap access

Counterweighted suspended scaffold set providing roof edge access at the Lofton Hotel in Minneapolis

The Challenge

For this project, the client needed specialized scaffold access to the roof cap along a penthouse level in four separate locations.

Key Challenges:

  • Roof-edge access at nearly 300 feet

  • No structural tie-in points

  • Limited access routes requiring all scaffolding materials to be transported through an occupied hotel

  • Multiple roofline sections requiring the scaffold to be relocated

our solution

Infinity Scaffold designed, installed, and relocated a counterweighted suspended scaffold system three separate times to safely reach each section of the roofline. This allowed a single person crew to have access to the the roof edge and complete sealant work, a job not for those with a fear of heights. System scaffold was chosen due to its lighter weight and smaller piece size compared to frame scaffold. This made it easier to transport the materials through the hotel, while its modular design made it possible to build a scaffold set that extended over the roof edge. The set used counterweights for stability, ensuring safety when anchoring into the building was not possible.
