Scriver Building — Northfield, MN
The Challenge
The project goal was to restore the building back to what visitors would have seen in the late 1800s. This included restoring the rounded windows and limestone facade. The project came with two important requirements: keeping the businesses open during construction, and making sure the scaffold was down by Jesse James Days. With the stores still operating at street level, access and egress were built into the design.
The Solution
The scaffold was a mix of frame scaffold (red) on the east elevation and system scaffold on the north elevation. By early September, the scaffolding was dismantled just in time for Jesse James Days, Northfield's largest annual celebration. Projects like this highlight the logistics not only of the scaffold build, but of the community and building as well.
